Ten Minute Car Clean
Since getting the new car, I've become one of those people I always marveled at before - the people who ALWAYS seemed to have a clean car, even with kids. I'd traded in a car that always seemed cluttered and stained, and looking at the pristine new car, I wanted to avoid getting to the stained and cluttered point again. I was talking to a mom at a class, and she said she just didn't have time to commit to cleaning one more thing. I got curious enough, so I timed my weekly cleaning - and it's honestly just ten minutes!
Minutes 1-3: Tidy and declutter. Empty the trash cans, check the seats and doors for little things. Bag or bin things to go in the house, toss the rest.Â
Minutes 4-8: Vacuum the trunk, the floor and the seats. I take the car to a car wash that has vacuums, and you get 5 minutes for 1.00, so I've got my routine almost perfectly timed. I always start with the areas that need it the most (the backseat for us), then move toward the area that needs it the least (usually our third row).Â
Minute 9: Grab a wipe and wipe down the interior. Again, I focus more on the areas that need more attention (the backseat again!). I do the door jams, the cupholders, the console, and the dashboard.Â
Minute 10: Windows! I use a glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth, though I've also had success with DIY cleaners. Wipes don't work well for me here.
That's it! Ten minutes to a total clean, perfect to fit in once a week while running errands.
