How do I prepare my Jeep?

You should always have your Jeep checked by our professionals here at Pearson Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram before you head off the road. Our technicians will check that your battery is securely fastened, that all of your hoses are in good condition, and that your oil and fluids have been changed. Then there are your tires; we will make sure that they are in good condition and properly inflated. Finally, before you head out, ensure that you are not traveling alone.

What should I be aware of?

Once you finally get off-road, you should put your Jeep info four-wheel-drive whenever you think you might need some additional traction. Keep in mind that it will be difficult to engage your four-wheel-drive once you get stuck, so you need to anticipate certain situations. You'll also want to look over the hood and scan to see what's coming up on the trial. Avoid sticking your head outside the vehicle to see what's coming, and many trail masters recommend keeping your thumbs out of the way of the steering wheel spokes in rough terrain. If you find yourself in a situation where your tires falls off the rock, your steering wheel can quickly rotate, and your thumb could get injured. If your Jeep has power steering, it will lessen the sudden steering wheel rotation.

How should I behave out on the trails?

You should always leave the trials in better shape than when you found them, observe all posted signs, and keep on the trials and recreation areas that are approved for off-roading. You should always use your best judgment when it comes to protecting the solitude and the beauty of the area. Make sure that you don't leave anything behind and make sure that you pick up any trash that others have discarded. If the terrain looks especially worse-for-wear, then you might want to take an alternate route.

What is a trail rated Jeep?

Your trail-rated Jeep goes far beyond the badge; it represents the confidence to take on every challenge that is put in front of it. Each Jeep trail-rated vehicle has been put through a battery of tests in five different categories. Jeep brand 4x4 vehicles have the traction to handle some of the harshest driving conditions. Whether you're looking to take on some of the toughest terrain imaginable or make it through a bad storm, in addition, when you're out on the trails, you'll be pleased to know that Jeep has you covered with its water fording. With trail-rated capability on your side, you can traverse bodies of water that other vehicles wouldn't even dream of attempting. All of the electrical components are sealed, and the air intake is placed higher to protect the vehicle as you drive through overflowing creeks, streams, and deep puddles. Finally, the exceptional maneuverability will allow your trail-rated Jeep to dodge any obstacles you face on the trial swiftly.
