All that power allows the Pentastar engine to tow up to 6,200 pounds. If you're looking to tow even more you can go with any of the available V8 engines which are rated to tow up to 7,200 pounds. The first V8 is a 5.7-liter V8 engine with 360 horsepower and 390 lb-of torque. A 6.4-liter V8 engine comes standard with the SRT model and pumps out 475 horsepower and 4470 lb-ft of torque. Lastly, we have the monstrous Supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that comes standard on the Trackhawk model. This supercharged engine boasts 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque.

2019 Ford  Edge Power & Handling

On most 2019 Ford Edge models you'll find a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine. The engine comes mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission and makes 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Models paired with this engine come standard with front-wheel-drive although all-wheel-drive is optional. The top tier ST model comes exclusively with a higher horsepower engine. That engine is a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that produces 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. The V6 engine is also mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission but comes standard with all-wheel-drive.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo starts things out for the model lineup with a 7-inch touchscreen, rear parking sensors, smartphone integration, and dual-zone climate control. One step up the model lineup gets you the fully loaded Limited model which comes with heated front and rear seats, a power liftgate, remote start, a heated steering wheel, and leather upholstery. Next up, is the off-road-oriented Trailhawk with adjustable air suspension, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II. The Summit model round out the luxurious features with a 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a self-parking system, advanced safety features, and more! The Grand Cherokee model lineup then veers off into the land of high performance with the SRT and Trackhawk models which include features like Brembo brakes, performance tires, a sport-tuned suspension, and more! 

2019 Ford  Edge Features & Design

Ford offers four different trim levels for the Edge which starts off with the SE model. The base model included a 4.2-inch central display, rear cross-traffic alert, and a six-speaker sound system. The SEL model adds dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen, dual USB ports, and smartphone integration. The Edge's luxury-oriented model the Titanium comes with leather upholstery, a hands-free liftgate, and remote start. Last up is the Ford Edge ST which comes with a different engine, a sport-tuned suspension, variable-ratio steering, and a sport-themed interior trim.

Conclusions

While both vehicles are impressive SUVs, the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee simply leaves the Ford Edge behind in the dust.
