2021 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

The 2021 Ram 1500 engine lineup consists of four available engine options. The first is the standard 3.6L V6 that kicks out 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, which is a solid baseline! If you're a diesel fan, you'll love the 3.0L V6 EcoDiesel with 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. The 5.7L V8 will appeal to those who seek more power across the board with 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The last available engine is exclusive to the fearsome TRX. The TRX houses a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine that cranks out a mind-boggling 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Paired with launch control and paddle shifters, the TRX has a 0-60 time of just 4.5 seconds! All four Ram 1500 engines are linked to the tried and true TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all trims, while four-wheel drive is optional. The TRX, however, comes standard with four-wheel drive.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado Power & Handling

Four engines are also available for the 2021 Chevy Silverado. A 4.3L V6 starts off the lineup with 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. The optional turbocharged 2.7L I4 is more appealing with 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque. Chevy also offers a diesel option for the Silverado in the form of a 3.0L I6 Powerstroke that provides 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The most power made available for the Silverado is 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque from the optional 6.2L V8. The standard V6 engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic, while the V8, turbocharged, and diesel engines are mated to either an 8-speed or 10-speed automatic. Similar to its Ram counterpart, the Silverado comes standard with rear-wheel drive, while four-wheel drive is optional.

2021 Ram 1500 Features & Design

The extensive lineup of Ram 1500 models starts with the Tradesman, which features many simple things the Silverado lacks. These include air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, power windows and door locks, and keyless entry with push-button start. Other standard features include heated power-adjustable side mirrors, an electronic parking brake, a backup camera, 18-inch steel wheels, and a 5-inch infotainment touchscreen. As the trim levels go up, you'll find more and more features, including an 8.4 or 12-inch infotainment touchscreens, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, a 7-inch digital driver information display, heated/ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, a single-pane or panoramic sunroof, chrome exterior accents, LED exterior lighting, power running boards, a multifunction tailgate, and much more. The TRX brings superior on and off-road capability with 11.8 inches ground clearance, 35-inch all-terrain tires, high-performance Bilstein shocks with 14 inches of travel, Performance Pages, and much more.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado Features & Design

While the Silverado's base-level Work Truck trim level does provide a 7-inch touchscreen equipped with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, it lacks many of the basic necessities that the Ram 1500 Tradesman has. For example, the Silverado Work Truck comes with manual windows and door locks, a tilt-only steering wheel, and 17-inch steel wheels. On the other hand, higher trim levels feature more attractive standard features like power windows and door locks, air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, a power sunroof, leather upholstery, heated front seats, keyless entry, push-button start, LED lighting, and heated power-adjustable side mirrors.

Conclusion:

While the 2021 Ram 1500 and Chevy Silverado may seem like very similar trucks, when you take a closer look, the Ram 1500 comes out on top.
