2019 Chrysler Pacifica vs 2019 Toyota Sienna near Glen Allen, VA

Are you in the market for a new minivan but you're unsure of where to start? That's where we come in! The minivan market has been booming, and with technology only becoming more impressive, it's no wonder that choosing the perfect minivan has become that much more difficult. To start, we're going to be looking at the top two minivans in the segment--the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica and the 2019 Toyota Sienna. Both of these vehicles have strengths that lend themselves to their popularity, but which one is better? There have been no major changes to the 2019 Pacifica, and that's not much of a surprise, considering how popular the current generation still remains. This minivan is comfortable, spacious, and incredibly convenient. On the other side of things, the 2019 Sienna receives a few changes, like optional all-wheel drive for the SE, and the addition of Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa functionality. But which one is better? Keep reading down below to find out which minivan reigns supreme in the fight for your family's convenience.

2019 Chrysler Pacifica Power & Handling

The Pacifica has remained the minivan to beat since it was introduced for the 2017 model year. This is large in part due to the standard 3.6-liter V6 engine. This engine can pump out 287 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, while attached to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy with the Pacifica is nothing to scoff at either, with the L model getting you 18/28 mpg, and all of the other available trims getting you 19/28 mpg. However, this minivan has a secret. Not only can you buy this minivan with a gasoline engine, but there is also a Pacifica model that comes with a 3.6-liter V6 that gets paired with dual-electric motors and a 16kWh battery. The Pacifica Hybrid has completely revolutionized the minivan segment, all while helping to save the planet.

2019 Toyota Sienna Power & Handling

The other minivan, the 2019 Sienna, comes with only one engine. This engine is a 3.5-liter V6, which can produce around 263 pound-feet of torque and 296 horsepower. This is a respectable amount of power, and paired with the standard eight-speed automatic transmission, it definitely isn't the worst for capability. You'll also get front-wheel drive as standard, with the option to get all-wheel drive. The front-wheel drive configuration gets you around 19/27 mpg, while the all-wheel drive configuration offers 18/24 mpg. There is no hybrid option for the Sienna, which means fuel economy is most definitely on the side of the Pacifica.

2019 Chrysler Pacifica Features & Design

When it comes to trim options, the Pacifica has it all. You can choose from six different trims, with the first one being the L. This standard trim includes a 60/40-split folding third-row seat, blind-spot monitoring, keyless entry and ignition, an auxiliary jack, a seven-inch touchscreen, heated mirrors, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth, rear cross-traffic alert, a 6-speaker audio system, and dual-zone climate control. Another model, the Touring Plus, adds a charge-only USB port, LED taillights, power-sliding rear doors, satellite radio, chrome exterior trim, remote engine start, automatic climate control, full keyless entry, fog lights, and a power liftgate. The most premium trim available is the Limited. The Limited includes premium leather upholstery, LED fog lights, auto-dimming rearview and exterior mirror, a hands-free liftgate, power-folding mirrors, an in-vehicle vacuum cleaner, ventilated front seats, a power-folding third-row seat, xenon headlamps, hands-free sliding doors, and a second-row USB port.

2019 Toyota Sienna Features & Design

Only five trim levels are available with the 2019 Sienna. The first of these, the L, comes with a moderate amount of features. These include five USB ports, a wiper de-icer, a six-speaker sound system, automatic headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, tri-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, and a conversation mirror. You also get Toyota Safety Sense as standard. Another model, the SE, includes heated front seats, sharper steering, unique gauges, a sport-tuned suspension, first- and second-row leather upholstery, a larger driver information screen, sportier exterior styling, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The highest model is the Limited, which adds front and rear sunroofs, driver-seat memory settings, 18-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, a unique grille, a heated steering wheel, driver-seat memory settings, and auto-dimming and power-folding mirrors.

Conclusions

If you're looking for the very best that the minivan segment has to offer, then there is only one choice out there that will fulfill all of your needs. While the 2019 Toyota Sienna is a pretty solid competitor, there is no minivan that can keep up with the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The Pacifica not only has the safety and entertainment features that you're looking for, but it also comes in not just a gasoline configuration, but a hybrid version as well! This means that fuel economy is particularly impressive, and you can't go wrong with skipping the gas station more often. Want to learn more?
