New 2017 Jeep Cherokee at Pearson Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram for Richmond, VA
You've been admiring the Jeep lineup for a long time. You love the styling and the power from under the hood. You love its capabilities, but how can you justify a vehicle that's only good for weekends on the trails? With the Jeep Cherokee, you won't have to. The Cherokee can tackle nearly any terrain like every other Jeep, but the Cherokee provides a ride quality on the highway that's smooth and comfortable. It's the best of both worlds, and that's not where the greatness of the Cherokee stops. The Cherokee has an available V6 engine that makes this crossover even more assertive and skyrockets towing capabilities. There's also the sought-after 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen available in many of the trim levels.
Under the Cherokee's Hood
The Cherokee of 2017 gives you the choice between two different engines. The first, standard on nearly all trim levels, is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that powers the Cherokee with 171 pound-feet of torque and 184 horsepower. Optional for most trim levels is the alternative 3.2-liter V6 engine that offers 239 lb-ft of torque and 271 horsepower. Both engines are synced up to an automatic nine-speed transmission. Drivetrains can be had in front-wheel or all-wheel for both engines and any trim level excluding the Trailhawk, which is offered exclusively with all-wheel drive for a premium experience when navigating off-road. There are two available four-wheel-drive systems, Active Drive I and Active Drive II. Both offer Selec-Terrain controls for a controlled, smooth driving experience regardless of weather or terrain. Active Drive II also offers a locking rear differential and low-range gearing, as well as one extra Selec-Terrain option-Rock. An available towing package allows for the Cherokee to tow a hefty 4,500 pounds.
